How to get to Wells Maine from North or South: Take the Maine Turnpike (Route 95) to Exit 19 (Wells-Sanford Exit). Take a left after the toll booths on to Route 109/9 and travel down the road until "ya can't go no further 'cept take a right or left". You'll be at the Wells Corner where Route 109/9 runs into US Route 1. Depending on your destination you can go either way. For the more adventuresome, you can take US Route 1 into Wells also. More to see on Route 1, but more traffic (people seeing the sights). If you just want to get here then take Route 95, but if you have some extra time, the ride up or down Route 1 is scenic and there are many places to eat, motels to be found, and small shops and outlet malls and stores to do some shopping.
